Lesaffre Baking Center\u2122 Network Celebrates 50 Years Since Its Founding<\/h1>\n

How it all began …<\/strong><\/p>\n

It all started with an idea from then Sales Director Alain Laloum, who in the 1970s began taking baker Jean-Jacques Semlangne with him on business trips so that he could address technical questions from bakery customers during their visits. Around the world, he explained to clients how to use Lesaffre yeast to achieve the best possible results in bread and pastry making. And it worked!<\/p>\n

In 1974, in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, at the bakery owned by Jean-Jacques Semlangne\u2019s parents, an idea was born that soon turned into the first Lesaffre Baking Center\u2122 test bakery. Customers from all over the world came here to learn how to use Lesaffre products, including the brand-new and revolutionary Saf-instant\u00ae instant dry yeast, launched in 1973. This was the beginning of ongoing communication between baker customers and Lesaffre bakery experts, which continues to this day. Its goal has always been, and always will be, to better understand the problems and expectations of bakery customers.<\/p>\n

Two years later, in the French town of Marcq-en-Baroeul, a brand-new bakery center for testing bread and pastries was established in a former garage. Over the years, its team expanded with experts from various fields.<\/p>\n

In 1995, the old convent in Marcq-en-Baroeul underwent extensive reconstruction and landscaping. The Baking Center\u2122 entered a new era, especially through closer collaboration with research and development teams. An innovative spirit and a localized approach to individual markets helped achieve a deeper understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by bakery customers.<\/p>\n

Experts and Enthusiasts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the many services offered by the Baking Center\u2122, the Baking Academy plays a key role. The training provided by this academy enables Lesaffre bakers to improve their skills and offer our clients the very best expertise.<\/p>\n

Another essential tool is sensory analysis, which provides an objective evaluation of the sensory properties of bakery products. Thanks to this, new bakery innovations can be developed much more easily.<\/p>\n

But the true driving force behind innovation is the work of our 300 bakery technologists located around the world. Through close collaboration with research and development teams, several unique Lesaffre products have been created, improving the organoleptic qualities and consistency of baked goods. Examples include osmotolerant yeast for sweet doughs, bakery solutions that prevent blistering on crusts, and various sourdough forms that make bakers\u2019 work easier.<\/p>\n

The Baking Center\u2122 was the first marketing investment of the Lesaffre Group, connecting our clients and sales teams, our technologists, and our marketing specialists. It helps them better understand the baking trade, innovate, and facilitate the introduction of new products to the market. It is the ideal place to connect and unify all professions. By immersing ourselves in the conditions and needs of our customers, we can design better, more suitable solutions.<\/p>\n

Proof of the success of this innovative concept is the fact that it inspired the creation of other centers within the group, such as the Culinary Center at Biospringer or the Fermentis Academy.<\/p>\n

Today, thanks to our passionate colleagues, the Baking Center\u2122 network has become the largest global network in the baking world. It stands out for its international reach as well as the diversity of its services, always tailored to the needs of individual customers.<\/p>\n

50 Years \u2013 Celebrate with Us!<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year marks a truly significant milestone for the Baking Center\u2122 network: 50 years is a beautiful age \u2013 and an age of unlimited possibilities! Thanks to the expertise of the men and women working in the Baking Center\u2122 bakery teams, many remarkable innovations have been born. Their human and professional approach has contributed to the good reputation of Lesaffre among bakers all around the world.<\/p>\n
